Make your site work for AI agents

AI agents now visit websites on a person's behalf to compare options, fill in forms and complete bookings. If an agent cannot understand or operate your site, it moves on to one it can.

  • Tested with real agents
  • Forms, booking and checkout
  • Clear fixes for your developers
01What it is

What is AI agent readiness?

An AI agent is an assistant that carries out a task for a person by using websites itself: comparing suppliers, filling in a form, booking an appointment. AI agent readiness is how well your site can be read and operated by one.

AI agents are moving from answering questions to carrying out tasks: filling forms, comparing quotes, booking appointments. An agent that cannot work your site will complete the task on one it can. Much of what makes a site usable for agents is the same as what makes it accessible and usable for people, which is why this work pays back twice.

AI agent readiness at a glance

AI agent readiness is how well a website can be read and operated by an AI agent acting for a customer. An agent reads the structure of a page much as a screen reader does, then clicks, types and submits. Sites with clear labels, standard controls and visible prices are easy for agents. Sites that hide information behind scripts, pop-ups or bot blocks are not.

ExampleA customer tells their AI agent

Book me a boiler service for Tuesday.

BeforeNot readyA site the agent cannot use
  • Price is hidden inside an image
  • Form field has no label
  • Bot protection blocks the agent

The agent gives up and books with another company.

With usAgent readyA site the agent can use
  • Price found
  • Enquiry form completed
  • Appointment booked

The agent finishes the task and you get the booking.

In practice
Agents read the structure of a page, much as a screen reader does. Clear labels, standard buttons and visible prices make a site easy for them. Custom controls, pop-ups, hidden information and strict bot blocking stop them, and they move on to a site that works.
Who it is for
Businesses where customers book, enquire or buy online: e-commerce, travel, appointments, software and quote-based services.
What it is not
It is not a chatbot on your site, and it is not a way around the payment and identity steps that agents hand back to the person.
02How it works

How an AI agent uses a website

An agent does what a person would do on your site, without the patience to work around problems. A task runs in four steps.

  1. 1

A person hands over a task

For example: compare three suppliers, send an enquiry or book an appointment for Tuesday.

  2. 2

    The agent opens the site

It loads the page in a browser. Bot protection can stop it at this point, with no error you would ever see.

  3. 3

    It reads the structure

It relies on headings, labels, buttons and form fields, much as a screen reader does. Some agents also read a screenshot.

  4. 4

    It acts and checks

It clicks, types and submits, then checks the result. It hands payment back to the person, or reports that the task failed.

03Why it matters

An agent that gets stuck does not ask for help

A person will work around a confusing form. An agent abandons the task and reports that it could not be done.

  1. Agents read structure, not design

Buttons without labels, custom dropdowns and information shown only in images are invisible or unusable to an agent.

  2. Security tools often block them

Bot protection can stop a legitimate agent acting for a paying customer, with no error you would ever see.

  3. Missing facts end the task

If price, availability or delivery terms are not stated on the page, an agent cannot complete a comparison and leaves you out.

05Who uses it

Who AI Agent Readiness is for

An agent finishes the task on a person’s behalf. If your site blocks it, the booking goes elsewhere.

SDMSites an agent can complete
  • Appointment-based businesses

Slots must be visible and bookable without a phone call.

  • Online stores

Checkout has to work from basket to payment with no surprises.

  • Travel and accommodation

Dates, rates and room types need a clear, machine-readable form.

  • B2B suppliers

Quote requests succeed when every field is labelled.

  • Private clinics

Intake questions should be answerable from what the patient already shared.

  • Restaurants and event spaces

Party size and time are entered once, not negotiated.

  • SaaS and subscriptions

Plan limits and trial terms are compared before any sign-up.

  • Professional advisers

Discovery calls get scheduled straight into your diary.

08Our process

How the readiness review works

Five stages. This is a fixed project: test, fix and re-test.

Week 1

Agree the tasks

We decide with you which tasks a customer's agent should be able to complete on your site: find a price, check availability, send an enquiry, make a booking or reach the checkout. Each task gets a clear definition of success.

You receive

A task list with a pass condition for each task.

Weeks 1 to 2

Test with real agents

Agents attempt every task on your live site. We record each step they take and the exact point where they stop, with a screenshot.

You receive

A task report showing which tasks completed and where the others failed.

Week 2

Structure and access review

Headings, labels, roles and controls are checked on your key templates, since agents rely on the same signals as screen readers. Your robots.txt, firewall and bot-protection settings are reviewed so you can decide which agents to allow.

You receive

A structure review and a proposed access policy.

Weeks 3 to 4

Developer handover

The fix list is written for developers. Each item names the template, the problem and the change needed, in priority order. We take your developers through it on a call. If you would rather we did the work, our own developers can.

You receive

A developer fix list in priority order.

After the fixes

Re-test

The same tasks are run again to confirm they now complete. Anything still failing goes back on the list.

You receive

A re-test report.

Timings are typical for a single website; your proposal sets out the exact schedule.

09Working with us

How we work with you

Sachkhand Digital Marketing has worked with businesses in 30 countries since 2017. The team is remote-first and keeps to your time zone, and the specialists who audit your site are the ones who do the work. This is how the work is shared on an AI agent readiness review.

You

What we need from you

Your input, mostly at the start
  • The tasks that matter most commercially
  • A safe way to test bookings or orders, such as a test slot or test product
  • Developer time to apply the fixes, or approval for ours to do it
  • A decision on which agents and crawlers you want to allow

What we will not promise

  • Agent products are new and change quickly. A task that works today may behave differently after an agent is updated.
  • Some steps, such as payment and identity checks, are deliberately left to the human by the agent makers.
  • Agent traffic is still small for most businesses. This is preparation, and the same fixes also improve accessibility for people.

What you can count on

  • A dated baseline before work starts, so progress is measured and not guessed.
  • The agreed scope of work, delivered every month.
  • A plain answer at each review if something is not working, with what we will change.

Outcome 1

Fewer abandoned bookings and enquiries

The form problems that stop an agent also stop people on phones, keyboards and screen readers. Fixing them recovers enquiries you are losing now.

Outcome 2

You are included in comparisons

When price, availability and terms are stated plainly, an agent comparing suppliers can include you. When they are hidden, it leaves you out.

Outcome 3

Ready as customers start delegating

As more people hand tasks to agents, a site that works for them takes the booking, and a site that does not is skipped.

What we guarantee

We do not guarantee a ranking or a mention in an AI answer. The search engines and assistants decide that, and no agency controls them. We guarantee the work, the measurement and the honesty.

  • A dated baseline before work starts.Every result is measured against a starting point you have seen.
  • The agreed scope, delivered every month. You know what will be done before the month begins.
  • Honest reporting.Reports match your own analytics. A quarterly review tells you plainly if something is not working.
  • White-hat methods only.No bought links, no fake reviews and nothing that risks a penalty.
  • Your approval before anything is published. No page, pitch or listing change goes live without your sign-off.
  • No lock-in.Billed monthly. Stop with 30 days' notice.
12Common mistakes

Mistakes we see most often

These come up in almost every first audit. Each one is avoidable.

  • Mistake 1

    Blocking all automated visitors

Blanket blocking stops agents acting for real customers. Rules need to distinguish them from abusive bots.

  • Mistake 2

    Treating accessibility as optional

Agents read the same structure assistive technology does. Poor accessibility is poor agent readiness.

  • Mistake 3

    Hiding prices

An agent comparing options will skip a provider whose price it cannot find.

  • Mistake 4

    Assuming it is years away

Agent features already exist in major assistants and browsers. The fixes also help today’s users.

Ask your own question
What is an AI agent?

An AI agent is an assistant that carries out a task for a person, such as comparing suppliers, filling in an enquiry form or booking an appointment, by visiting and operating websites itself.

How is agent optimisation different from SEO?

SEO is about being found and chosen by a person. Agent readiness is about whether software acting for that person can read your pages and complete the task. The two overlap on structure, speed and clear information.

Do AI agents respect robots.txt?

The major providers publish user-agent names and say their automated crawlers follow robots.txt. Agents acting on a direct user request are sometimes treated differently. We set out your options and configure the rules with you.

Is it worth doing this now?

If your customers book, enquire or buy online, the fixes are worthwhile now because they also help people using screen readers and keyboards. The agent-specific testing matters most for e-commerce, travel, bookings and software.

Will agents be able to pay on my site?

Agent makers are cautious about payments and usually hand that step back to the person. Our focus is on getting the agent cleanly to that point with accurate information.

How do you test whether agents can use our site?

We give current AI agents real tasks on your site, such as finding a price, completing an enquiry or booking, and record where they succeed, hesitate or fail.

Does this overlap with accessibility work?

Substantially. Clear labels, semantic HTML and keyboard-operable controls help both. We flag accessibility issues as part of the review.

Will making the site agent-friendly weaken security?

No. The aim is deliberate rules that let legitimate, user-directed agents through while continuing to block abusive traffic. We work with your developers or security provider on this.

Which agents do you test with?

The agent features in the main AI assistants and browsers available at the time of the review. We name the versions used in the report.
